I have a 9,3x74R double rifle and I have killed several wild pigs and one black bear with the 286gr. Woodleigh SP. I have recovered a couple of the Woodleigh's from pigs. I have killed one deer with the 293gr. TUG. It was a frontal shot that went completly through the deer. Baised on that I would say that the TUG will give deeper penetration than the Woodleigh. I have used the 286 Nosler Partition on several pigs, all with complete penetration.
Hope this helps.

I have had good results with Woodleighs on Cape Buffalo with the Woodleihs in both 286 and 320 gr. I would simply use a solid...

I have not used the Tug on game.

smle,
I shot four scrub bulls in October using Norma plastic point factory ammo in 9.3x62. Both the Woodleigh and TUG have very good reputations. Don't sweat too much about it. Load whichever you can get your hands on, or whichever one can save you a few bucks.

Both are high quality bullets, I like TUG very much, and I have some like 150/200 TUG bullets, but taking in consideration that you are in Australia, I think that probably Woodleigh are more easy to find and less expensive.

The RWS TUG has a well deserved reputation for controled expansion and deep penetration. Its elaborate construction makes it quite expensive, though.
 -
Looking at this pic, one sees (from tip to base):
- a sharp ring to cut round holes, leaving lots of hair and blood ;
- a dual core, soft front (expansion) and hard rear (penetration);
- the "torpedo" tail.
I've shot them in several calibers and they're generally very accurate too.

I obtained a quantity of 293 gr 9.3 cal TUG bullets and have been shooting them in my 9.3x64.They are expensive but they are a very good bullet. As Andre has pointed out the wadcutter like ring cuts an impressive entrance wound.The only bullet (not counting solids) that comes close to penetrating like the Tug is the 300 gr Swift A-frame. Both the Tug & the A-frame out penetrate the 286 gr Partion by a considerable margin.I am not suggesting that there is anything wrong with the partition because it is a good bullet.The Tug and the A-frames are both excellent bullets.
