Hello, Posted a similiar thread in the reloaders forum. I am interested in hearing anyones experinces with downloading the 338 rum to 338 win mag levels. My reasons for doing this is I an having a hard time finding a 338 win mag in a left hand action, but I can find some 338 rum in a left hand action. I just dont need all the extra with the rum. Thanks in advance. Dan | ||

Accurate Powders have some great data on slowing down the 338 RUM, using powders like 3031 and 4064 etc., will also work just fine in accomplishing what you desire... use 338 WM data in your Ultra Mag.. and it won't be far off.. work up a little if you want a little more velocity... I had a similar situation a couple of years ago. I was looking for a new Weatherby Accumark in 340 but couldn't find one. I could find them in 338-378 all over the place. I finally just bit the bullet and bought the boomer. What I quickly discovered is that with or without the factory muzzle brake it is a riot to shoot. Sure I can download it but haven't yet after finding it so much fun to shoot as is. You shouldn't have an issue with the 338 RUM downloaded or full power. If you find it more then you really want to shoot then you can always sell it. Ken.... "The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn't so.
