Has anyone used this bullet for hunting ?

I have this ammo

Would this work for Kansas whitetail. I have Norma 180 grain 300 Norma Mag ammo dialed in but I prefer shooting copper bullets.

Thanks,

Mike

I only know from personal experiences. I have used the 168 grain Berger Hunting Hybrid on culling jobs on Texas whitetail. Big exit holes and some ruined shoulders. Not impressed.

I was culling in Namibia and two other hunters were in camp. They were using 185 grain VLD Hunter. First 2 days they lost a kudu, eland and gemsbok. PH was livid. No penetration into vitals.

I don't recommend them.

Much better choices than target bullets for hunting.

Thanks for the info

Will stick to the 200 grain oxy bonded soft point from Norma.

You stated you prefer copper bullets, do you mean all copper? Like Barnes TSX or Hammers? Bergers are cup and lead core. Unless you are planning for the possibility of shoot to 600 yards and beyond there are definitely better bullets.

Check out Jeff Brozovich (Broz) at long range only. He has done a ton of terminal testing on that bullet. Has nothing but good things to say. I’m using it in my 300wn and it shoots lights out.

I've used Bergers vld hunting bullets on everything from bull giraffe to lowly whitetail. They are accurate and they work!

I do agree that if you put it on a white tails shoulder you will lose a lot of meat. But you won't need to do any tracking or blood trailing!
