My son called me yesterday and wanted to know if I would recommend the SHR. He found a new one in the box in 30 06 for $600 and was impressed with it. Anyone have experience/knowledge of the gun...problems...concerns. I don't know a thing about them.

Thanks

Swiss made. Relatively accurate, light and handy. The price is good...

l helped develope a load for one back in '10. lt was in 270win and shot heavy partitions well by the time l'd finished. Metric's right it will be light, but balanced, so it should be ok even for a light framed chap to handle.

If it is a SHR970 it is even a switch barrel rifle. You can find the barrels on GB occaisionally.

600$ is nearly half the price of what I see new locally. BPS and Gander both got some in about 1-2 years ago. Honestly though I don't think either sold one. The gun guy I go to at Gander even commented that he had NO idea why they were carrying them, totally out of the normal market. I THINK they're on sale there for like 1000-1100.

If you think every possible niche has been filled already, thank a wildcatter!
