I have owned 5 300 ultra mags and really liked the numbers on the chrony but have never shot game with one. I have shot 8 deer with the 300 win mag though and one with the 300wsm. I think they are all good myself. Pretty much like the 30 cals as a whole. Probably gonna put the 30-06 to work next year. Other than deer with 30 cals I shot one moose with a 308 winchester. -------------------- THANOS WAS RIGHT!

With the 300 "Magnums", there is enough disparity in their power levels to really make them separate choices. The 300 H&H is a slick-feeding classic, and trumps the 30-06 for a bit more power. The 300 WSM and 300 Win Mag are close in power levels....I'm a fan of the 300 Win Mag; I don't see the trade-off between a marginally shorter action vs a steep shouldered case. The 300 RUM, WBY, Lazzaroni, and their ilk are another matter...harder to shoot due to big increases in blast and recoil, but absolutely the best for launching 200gr bullets at far away targets. This last group are more like mid-bore cartridges necked down to 308.

I have the 300 RUM but I won a 300 Win mag so I might try that this year

If you leave North America and need more than a 30-06, you don't need a faster .30, you need a bigger bore. .308 is really all you need so call the 30-06 the .308 Magnum and there you have it. The best .30 magnum.

None of the above . I like the original .300 , the .300 Savage ! Don't forget to have your Liberals spayed or neutered !
