I have a friend that wants me to load some 140 gr TTSX for his 7MM STW. I checked with the Barns web site and selected the their most accurate load for TSX:

H1000 Min-81 gr Max-86 gr
COAL 3.560

I e-mailed Barns and asked what should the COAL of the TTSX be in relation to TSX; answer, the same as TSX up to Minus 0.010.

I have loaded 3 each at 84,85,86 and 87 gr of H1000 with COAL's of 3.550. We will shoot them this weekend.

My queation, does anyone have any real world experience with this gun and load?

No experience with the Wby, but based on my two Senderos and 140 Nosler Bal. Tips, I suspect the loads you list are gonna be a bit hot.

Interested in what fps you see with these loads........

Cheers,
Jim

I have not shot the TTSX but I was getting pressure signs on my gun with the H-1000 and 140 grn Accubonds at 84 grns but that was also in hot Houston weather in the summer. I had to back down to 82 grns and it shoots really well. I plan to check my head space I think my brass may be flowing to much.

I would start slow and work up as always, don't be afraid to stop shooting and go home and pull loads that are to hot. This caliber can be extremely accurate.

I think that 140 grain TSX is a good choice for the STW, but I stick with 160 grain bullets for the most part.
My rifle is a winchester , and it loves a 160 grain acubond over H-1000.
RL-25 is another good choice.
I hesitate to tell people how well my STW shoots. But I have had many groups of sub .25, and the best group I have ever shot with a hunting rifle was with this one.
The 160 grain Acubond over H-1000 gave me a center to center 3 shot group of .17.
When looking at the whole through the scope I thought I had missed the target with the 2nd 2 shots and double checked the screws on my my scope rings.
I was real dificult guy to put up with at the range on that saturday ! feeling the babe ruth of rifledom.
Point being, the cartridge is simply a great one for acuracy.
And if you do,nt get the results you want with the 140s try 160s I get mine out to 3200 + and with that kind of acuracy how much better can it get ?
Funny thing is I seldome use it.

We shot them this afternoon.

Started at 84 gr ( about 2 inches) worked up to the 87 ( about 1/2 inch) no pressure signs.

Went to the car and loaded 3 at 87.5 and set up the chrono--Walla- 1/4inch and Vel 3499-3490-3499.

That gun will shoot.

Thanks, Wayne
