I just met a guy shooting a brand new HK gas actioned semi auto, when I was sighting in a 6.5x68.

After some ( 10 round ) mags it seemed to work quite reliable. Lapua FMJ ammo. As this guy was no hunter I cant comment on marksmanship. The 10" ;-) sight line didnt help, either ...

Pluses: top of mags is metal. Factory 10 rounders available. Bolt catch not activated by rear of follower ( o God I hate those Rem people. I refuse to call their tecknikal staff E........! I dont want to be compared to those A.... )

No connection of forearm tension screw to POI and accuracy.

Bad: alu receiver. Doesnt look good. VERY expensive.

Anybody any experiences?

Are you talking about the HK SLB 2000?

Yes, I think thats the name. It was in .30-06, gas operated ( no roller locking bolt ) and had a curious, very steep pistol grip. The barrel was extremely short, so the sight radius was approx 10"!!

For the first 10 rounders the bolt had occasionally to be worked by hand. Last mags worked fine.

Could be a couple of different things. If the rifle wasn't properly cleaned before firisng for the first time, some of the grease from the factory could have caused the failures. Maybe the rifle was cleaned well, but needs a little break-in time.

I'm surprised about this, because HK firearms are usually very reliable.

ksduckhunter, I think the guy didnt know too much about guns. He definitely is no hunter, but bought the gun for boating. According to his talkings there are still some piratery acts in the Mediterranean.

He did not do any preliminary cleaning, the smith who sold him the gun told him to just shoot the piece, clean afterwards. As I told the gun functioned perfect towards the end of his shooting.

I personally would have checked for some lubricant first. I prefer to clean first, lube with known, good products ( Break Free, RIG 7, Firepower MP 10, eventually Hoppes gun oil ) and then go on the breaking in process.
