HEPP!! I'm not at all sure if I got the name right on this one. But it's possible to sheck. On bedside last night I read an article about the Swift Bullets, in "American rifleman". The author mentioned that he had a rifle chambered for 358 TMU (or MTU or similar??). That wildcat could drive a 250 grs. bullet at 3100 f/s and more!! Can someone tell me something about this cartridge?? What case it's based on, and so on?? (Saw the video; "Enemies at the gate", the other day. GREAT movie, with some good shoot'n!!) ------------------ Arild.

I drive a 250 gr. bullet 3100 fps. with a rifle chambered in .358 STA. I also drive a 280 gr. Swift A-Frame or 270 gr. North Fork bullet at 3000 fps. plus with the same rifle. I find the .358 caliber very usable on all North American game now that the bullet companies have improved the bullet offerings. That .358 UMT or whatever it is sounds interesting. Good shooting. ------------------ [This message has been edited by phurley (edited 05-16-2002).]

If you have the chance of getting the Ken Howells new book if it's out in the stores,i mean, it would probably list the most wildcats you've ever heard of,,,or am i mistaken. I have been wanting his books or book( nr 1) for a long time now, and there are almost impossible to get a copy. I hope someone here on board would give me some advice ! -------------

Per577, The first edition of Ken Howell's book has been reprinted and is listed in the current Sinclair International catalog. I have been told that the second book in the series is due out any time as well. Reach them here:

Davidreed Could you tell me if this book contains more load data than A-square's catalog. The reason why i think this book is interesting is that it lists a bunch of wildcat load data.Is that right ?

Ken Howell's book does NOT list any loading data--it has diagrams of the cartridges, with dimensions. He suggests ways to make the case--but usually ends the SHORT discussion with the comment that they should be formed in RCBS forming dies and/or fire-formed in the relevant chamber. the_captn

The Captain is correct. No loading data in Howell's book, just drawings, dimensions, capacities, and a small blurb on how to form the cases. - Dan

That was a little disappointing after all my expectations !Well, it's my own fault lying to myself as much as to start believing it ! Well thanks anyway, and the book is sure educating and fun to read, when things are grey. ------------------------ Per "naive" 577 -------------------------
