Longshot... I thought about including the 338-378, though I didnt know how popular it was and if would have been a good choice. Years ago I had one on a 602, I replaced mine with a 378 wby.

PaHunter... I am not so sure why the forum isnt allowing some members to vote and others not, My guess is that it recognizes IPs address in blocks, and you have one within the block of another who has posted. If I remember, I will post a question to Saeed tonight about it. Feel free to express what you would have voted for though, I at least would like to know.

I have killed 32 elk in the last 34 years--not one of them with the cartridge choices listed in the elk section. Now just who the heck is going to explain this to those elk? (I think I can hear hear them sobbing in the the Happy Grazing Ground In The Sky as I type)--sheesh.

No biggy Casey. It would be a long list to include everyone, I listed just a few that might be popular, old stand bys, or cartridges people have mentioned on the forums. Like all Polls this one will not be fit for everyone. Perhaps if I or someone else does another one in 4-6 months we can include some different cartridges. Do you have any recomondations?

Smallfry,

Well, the majority of them were killed with a 270W, the others with 30 cals, 7mm, and two elk last year with a 243W. But the 243 may be pushing it as far as any future inclusion in the poll . Of course, there are the four elk I killed with my recurve bow--any chance we could find a weapons catagory for that?

Amen casey, those are fine elk calibers. I didnt know what to do or what to call the 338s-35s etc, so I just lumped them into "elk" rifles. It would be interesting to see how many shoot elk with the 300s and below. ALso... I wanted to include the 6.5, 243s, and 257s, but I was going by the forum profile of Medium bores, and that starts at .27 acording to the forum.

If I ever go elk hunting (which is unlikely unless the elk restoration efforts in southeastern Kentucky really take off and they spread down here), I'll use my .300 Weatherby.

I wouldn't think I'd be undergunned with 175 grain 7mm Rem Mags, though.
