Hello Members - Can anyone comment on the trigger quality of new Model 70's? Are they adjustable? Replaceable? A new Coyote has caught my eye ....... Thanks in advance. Thanks, Dad, for taking me into the Great Outdoors.

They are adjustable and replaceable. The ones I have are similar to the old M70s except that the sear area has a longer contact surface. This means that the take up is longer. If the trigger is very smooth one may not notice the take up much. Anything can be improved and it's still a good trigger. Join the NRA

It's a fine trigger and adjustable for pounds pull and aftertravel. I use a surface grinder in .0005 increments to adjust creep if needed but rarely needed. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." I thought I once saw a link to a webpage that provided instructions on adjusting this trigger, but a search did not reveal it. Anybody still have it?? Antlers Double Rifle Shooters Society Heym 450/400 3"

Never had a problem with one. A little adjustment and they'll work just fine. Rooster

M70 triggers are pretty easily adjusted, and there are instructions for doing so on the web. That being said, I did invest in two quarter-inch wrenches from Brownells to ease the task. The result was okay, but not perfect. After adjusting it as far as it would go, I still ended up with a trigger that had a bit of creep (not "adjustable") and a pull weight of two to five and a half pounds. Stoning the creep out may also bring down the variance in the pull weights, but I haven't done that. Jaywalker

I've adjusted triggers on dozens of M-70's with few problems. At a gun show one of my freinds bought a new M-70 Shadow. The trigger parts in it were slightly differently made than some older ones. I believe that the newer parts were MIM parts. I couldn't adjust the trigger on the Shadow quiet as light as I'm normally able too. I think that the spring was more the culprit than the MIM parts though.........DJ ....Remember that this is all supposed to be for fun!..................

I just did a SS M 70 Classic trigger last night. The sear surface on the trigger had a burr on one side so I stoned it. It's unusual to have to do this so don't jump at this first. I changed the spring as I usually do to one with less tension and it passes my drop test. The weight is now 3.5 lbs and there is some smooth take up. I attribute this to the greater sear travel in the Classics vrs the pre 64's. This trigger is ok now sort of. I really have to get back into it and reduce the sear travel. It was a lot easier with the pre 64's to get a crisp light pull. Join the NRA
