Gents,

Following the Nosler manual, the max load of 44gr of RL15 with 165gr AB's are shooting lights out accurate in my son's .308.

I was wondering who has experience using these on plains game? We are headed over next year and this again will be my son's gun. Intention is to keep shots to 200 yards max and hunt up to Kudu size.

They will get the job done...

Shot placement is and always will be the key...

You have the load sorted now train a much as you can on the range from field positions.

I've had great results with the Hornday IB 165 in the 308 Win (2680 MV) on lagre Blue Wildebeest and Gemsbok bulls out to about 250m.

Not identical bullets, but for what it may be worth...

Season before last here in Montana I shot two elk, an antelope and mule deer with the 165 NAB in my 308 Kimber... shots were from 180 to just over 400 yards. Performance was flawless.

You have the blessing of a couple of Africans, so my input won't have the same weight. However, I would in no way feel handicapped shooting plains game with a 165 AB in a .308. This assumes that the typical range is measured in yards and not portions of a mile, but where you don't expect shots to exceed 200 yards or so it will be as effective as any.

Thank you gentlemen! It seems the rifle has picked the bullet and it has chosen well.

All things being equal, a 165 gr bullet is on the light side for large antelope and zebra.
That said, he will have back up and familiarity with a rifle and confidence in its accuracy are two of the most important ingredients in a successful hunt and so I think you have made an excellent decision.
