For those of you who don't know - I just learned yesterday - GunBroker has a Smart Search capability. I find looking at auctions with Reserve prices a waste of time, and wanted a way to eliminate them from the results. Smart Search can do that, so my bookmark is no longer to the "Bolt Actions" page, but to the Smart Search page. Jaywalker

Those reserve prices are enough to make one go to a gunshop! Thanks for the tip. I have contacted some sellers and asked what their reserve price is. One answered but all in all it's hardly worth the effort. I really resent the reserve price system. It's like the seller is playing with us. All in all I do like the ease of these on line gun auctions and GunBroker is my favorite. Join the NRA

The reserve prices are often worse than ludicrous! Often they are 2-4 times above Blue Book prices, proving time and again that a lot of folks have no concept of relative rarity and utility. The ones that automatically choose the max Blue Book price as their reserve really get under my skin, largely because there is usually no such thing as a true new in the box gun over 15-20 years old. Sheeesh! Thanks for the tip! LLS Mannlicher Collector PS, there really is no such thing as a NIB Mannlicher-Schoenauer.

What gets under my skin is the "NIB" descriptions which turn out to be new, never sold, but w/ much shelf wear from being in the rack for 8 months and after havving every Tom, Dick, & Harry w/in 4 counties play with it. I asked the seller if he'd honor a three day return/inspection period on the gun. He flately stated no and said no returns, & that I should know what I'm buying.

I suspect the reserve prices are an attempt to keep advertising without paying the fees asociated with actually selling an item. I don't see many things selling - just listed. Jaywalker
