I sent a Stiller action to my gunsmith last fall to have him build me a new 300 Jarrett. The rifle was shipped to me the first of May, and I have to say I am more than pleased with it....

After a break in period where I shot 25 rounds, cleaning after every round I could tell the rifle was going to be a shooter. I was able to shoot 10 shots at one range session (during break in) cleaning after every shot and all ten shots were just under an inch.

I loaded up one load that is a great shooter in another 300 Jarret I have. I started 2.5 grains lower than what I shoot in my other rifle and worked up in .5 grain increments. Here are the resutlts....... Big Grin

The rifle was built by Gordy Gritters in Pella Ia. He has built a 338 RUM on a R700 action that was a one holer also, does good work for you accuracy freaks.

The 300 Jarrett:
26" #5 Kreieger Barrel
Stiller Predator Action
McMillan General Purpose Hunting stock
Sunny Hill Bottom Metal with Wyatt mag box.
Jewell Trigger set at 1 lb.
Talley rings and bases
Ziess VM/V 6-24X56 scope with Mil Dot Reticle

I was so excited about the way this rifle shot I had to share it... dancing

Thanks for your report on your Jarrett.. Is this the only bullet {Berger} you'll be using for all your Hunting..
What do you expect when the Bullet Hit's the Bone.. I must say the paper looks very impressive.. That Rifle is a Shooter..

SWEEEEET.

I had really been wanting a 300 Dakota, until Dakota kinda imploded and of course, being their most popular caliber, they were out of 300 brass instantly, and since they weren't paying folks, Jamison wouldn't make em anymore, still isn't any available!

May look at the Jarret!

The target is impressive. With respect to the lands, how deep is the Berger bullet seated?

I was very impressed with the 185 VLD in my 30.06 using Varget.

AK, no I typically use the 180 accubond in my other Jarrett for most of my hunting with it. I know the Berger is not a hunting bullet but It is actually a great bullet for whitetial deer. It performs much like a ballistic tip. There is a lot of destruction as the bullet comes apart inside the chest cavity. It will penetrate the shoulder bone just fine.

I would not reccomend it for larger game, but if you have the situation where you can pick a good shot it is great.

It is very simailar to the 300 Wby. Actually you can shoot 300 Wby ammo in a Jarrett chamber but the brass cannot be reloaded because the neck will be too short. The Jarrett is usually about 100-150 FPS fster than the Wby......
