I've been offered to purchase a Sauer 202 in a 300 winchester mag. It's in very good condition and probably no more than 3yrs old. I know very little about Sauer products, or what would be a fair price for this rifle. The only thing I do know after handling it is the rifle is really a sweet gun.
Thanks

If its the caliber you want at the right price it should be a good rifle. It is from what I know quality throughout. I always had a hankering for a 6.5x55. An aquaintance has one in a 270 and speaks highly of it. Silent safety, wonderful trigger, nice finish and wood. Barrel quality is likely very high as are much of Europe's products.

This is just about the top end of European factory rifles. They normally shoot very well right out of the box. Look over on the European forum, the rifle has been discussed extensively there.

Sorry, can't help you with a price check...

I own the Deluxe version of the gun you are considering. I have both the 300 Win Mag and 7mm Rem Mag barrels. I have nothing but good things to say about it. I paid $1100 for mine new in 1998 and scored the second barrel on eBay for a song. That might help you determine a fair price. I put a Burris Signature 2-8 X 33mm scope on it and shoot bottle caps at 200 yards for target practice. It's a light weight sporter but man is it accurate. The Germans know how to make quality guns.

You should be aware the gun you are looking at has the larger magnum action. As such, you don't have carte blanche in changing barrels to non magnum cartridges. The manual lists the 6 or so calibers that are interchangeable with the magnum action. I think all but one use the same bolt too.

It's a heck of a gun and you will not regret the purchase. It was my second center fire rifle but the first one I handloaded for. I wish all my other guns had its superb out-of-the-box accuracy.
