I have a new to me 9.3x57 Husky. I am familiar with notches in the stock at the left side of the receiver indicating the number of moose killed, but mine is different. My stock is marked on the underside of the pistol grip (between the checkering panels) with X's and I's in no particular pattern. Anyone out there know the history about these particular marks.

Thanks,

Lance

Picture?
Mine has a couple names lightly engraved around the perimeter of the grip cap and two Nordic looking letters in the middle. No obvious kill notches on the stock though.

This site http://www.skydevaaben.com/hvasno/info.xml will tell you when your rifle was made. Mines is from the 1939-40 era.

I've got Husqvarnas that have the date & place of each hunt carved into the stock, others with brass tacks depicting moose or other game presumably taken with teh rifle. Others with all kinds of carvings or markings. Some purely decorative others appear to have been a feelbe attempt at adding texture not unlike checkering. Most common of course are the notches cut or varved into the stock.

God only knows.

How about X for moose and I for bear or deer? That's as good as any! thumb
