You can pick up a nice used Ruger M77 for anywhere from $400 to $500 without much trouble. They're good dependable rifles. The older M77's with tang-safety had adjustable triggers and were somewhat better in the trigger department than the MkII's, but a Timney trigger is easy to add and cheap.

.22 LR Ruger M77/22
30-06 Ruger M77/MkII
.375 H&H Ruger RSM

I don't know about down there but up here it's Remington that I've noticed going up lately.

Well guys, the ugly truth is that everybodys prices have gone up. If you're looking to get a new rifle, you'll have to shop around to find the best price. Around here, Sportsmans Warehouse sells the M77/MKII's for $464 and change, and Walmart sells them for $477 and change. That's obviously before the horid 8.6% sales tax that Wa. hammers us with.

Best of luck finding a rifle.

Idaho_elk...... $389, thats a good deal. Can you give me the name of that dealer.

Standard wood/blue Rugers have been about $490 around hear for a couple years (upstate NY). Prior to Winchester announcing the closing, Ruger had announced an increase of about $20. That seems to be what they are now in the %10 to 520 range. I just picked up a new 257 rob and paid $500 but have dealt with the dealer quite a bit and he gave me a break.

Remingtons seem to be in the %589 range for BDL and $619 for CDL.

I think the $490 price sounds right to me. $389 I don't think will happen today.

Yes. you don't see to many people post on the saum's Still $350.00 for a stainless MKII in 7 or 30 caliber I'd probably try one if I were in the market. I can't get within $135.00 of that price around here.

I've bought a few rifles off G.B. best thing is no tax Smiler kinda covers shipping and 20.00 transfer.

They discoutinued the sum remingtons in the rugers because they are not popular at all.If you get one buy 1000 pcs of brass because in 5 years they will be gone .I like the old rugers better than the new ones because of the safety but have to use the new ones to get stainless guns.I would not fool with a sum remington get a 338 win mag stainless mine shoot under 1" at 200 yards.I have shot alot of 3/4" groups at 200 yards with my old and new ruger 338s.They have medium heavy barrels that are very accurate and kick alot less than most thin barreled 300 mags or even less than 7mm stw.
