Can someone tell me the difference between a Remington model 700 short action and the Model Seven action? For some reason I had the impression the Seven was the same action used on their old bolt action pistols. Is there and benefit to the Seven or 700? | ||

The 7 action is slightly smaller and lighter than the 700 sort. It is based on the old 600/660 action, but is not the same. They fixed some of the mistakes from the 600/660, but there just doesn't seem to be enough of a difference between it and the 700 short to make it worthwhile to me. Look at the weights of similar chamberings on their website. Take into account the different barrel lengths and there ain't any appreciable difference in weight or length to go through the effort to make a separate action. IMHO.
