In 300 Win Mag,not that the barrel is shot out at all but I was wondering about having another calibre using this unit as basically simply rebarreled ???? Without having to do any bolt face work or magazine work, what sort of calibres would fit right in here? bigger Dia possibly 400+????? Here you go. 338 Gaillard/8.6x72mm SDM. Mine is a 26 inch Magnum Contour Ted Gaillard barrel on an AIII Sako action in a McMillan Hunter stock topped off with a 4.5x14x40mm 30mm LR Leupold scope with a B&C reticle. The scope is mounted with Talley rings! My pet load for mine is as follows: 8mm Rem Mag case that has been fire formed! CCI 250 Primer (all I had at the time, I now have some F215M to play with)! 250gr HPBT Sierra 91gr RL25 3050-3070 FPS The target is @ 200 yards. There is 4 shots in the cluster, and the one flier which I think was me. The 3 shells shown are 1 before fire forming, 1 fire formed case and 1 loaded round. The top left target was some 416 Rem Mag brass I was fireforming with 225 Hornady Interlocks. 85gr IMR 7828 & CCI 250 primers. 2967 FPS (Low), 2995 FPS (High). I also notice that that target should have been rotated 90 degrees CCW as that is how it was at the range. The top right target was the last 3 rounds left from my 1st 338 Gaillard that I had. They were loaded with 250 Sierra HPBT, 340 Fire Formed Norma cases 89gr RL25 and CCI 250 primers. 2887FPS (Low), 2959FPS (High). The lower left target is a 5 shot group of Barnes 225gr XXX. These were Fire Formed 8mm Rem Mag cases with 86gr IMR 7828 and CCI 250 primers. 3054 (Low), 3077 (High). The lower right target was an experiment. 200gr Nosler Ballistic tips with Fire Formed 8mm Rem Mag cases with 88gr RL22 and CCI 250 primers. Nosler does not make a ballistic tip in 200gr anymore, only the Accubond. I figured I'd try these before I used my Accubonds. I must say I was impressed! 3249FPS (Low), 3271FPS (High). ______________________ Did I mention I love Sako's

gryphon, keeping it in more standard selections, you could go a 7 Mag, 338 WM, 375 H&H. And also, although you can go with the shorter '06 length action and build one, I have seen two conversions to 9.3x62 and the owners like the ability to seat bullets out longer with that action. I would also suspect you could go with 300 RUM in that action--not sure about that..... It is a really great platform to build a rig on, I am thinking of doing a 300 Dakota off of one.

The factory TRG-s uses the identical magazine for everything on a belted case, whether its case is 2.5" like the 7mm Rem and .338, 2.62" like the .300 Win, or 2.85" like the H&H family. I suspect that something on the RUM case would also fit and feed from the magazine, but might cut your capacity from four to three. Thus, anything on a belted case, and likely anything on an RUM case, could be chambered on your .300 Win TRG-s without any modification to the action or magazine. The .338 Lapua, which is a chambering formerly offered in the TRG-s, would probably require some minor alterations and possibly a different magazine.

Nordic2 I already have the great 358 NM in the safe. I also have a 7MM Rem as well That 338 Gaillard is a ripper, but too much work for me in that I can never be bothered reloading let alone fire forming etc. The 458 or the 375 H+H are possible`s swinging to the 375 though with the 358 NM i`m virtually there energy wise already ???? Thank you fellas for the replies,I`m still working on this. Posts: 87 | Location: Victoria Australia | Registered: 07 September 2002

375 Ruger same bolt face, slightly more capacity than the 375 H & H and made to fit in the 3.4" long action or just rechamber the existing barrel to a 30/375 Ruger like I'm going to do ____________________________________ There are those who would misteach us that to stick in a rut is consistency - and a virtue, and that to climb out of the rut is inconsistency - and a vice. - Mark Twain | Chinese Proverb: When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others. ___________________________________

Case capacity 300 win mag - 87 gr 30-375 Ruger - 93.7 gr not a big difference, but maybe just enough to hit an honest 3000 fps with a 200 gr Accubond without the need for a muzzle brake (read 300 RUM) and without a belted case. Plus it is a rechamber only without the expense of a barrel or refinishing the gun. It will require setting the barrel back a couple of threads. Necking down the 375 Ruger brass is going to require an interim reducing die (338RCM Full Length die) and then a finishing die (300RCM Full Length die). After fire forming then you will have a formed case to have either Lee, Redding or Hornady to make custom dies, if you want. Or you can continue to use the 300RCM for neck sizing and push the shoulder and size the case body with a 375 Ruger die. Haven't thought about seating dies yet, but the Hornady custom dies are a 2 die set. ____________________________________ There are those who would misteach us that to stick in a rut is consistency - and a virtue, and that to climb out of the rut is inconsistency - and a vice. - Mark Twain | Chinese Proverb: When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others. ___________________________________
