have an old vanguard 300winmag, very pretty wood which was unfortunately split on left side at back of trigger cut in the stock. i repaired it w/ epoxied in steel bolts on both sides of rear guard screw so structurally is fine. the bolt i sent back to wby to have the striker housing replaced under their recall. very nice condition otherwise. but i bought it for a project i'm abandonning completely and i'm sure in trying to sell the rifle it'll essentially be "worthless" to dealers or most anyone else so i'm thinking of just parting it out. any idea market value of a good magnum bolt face vanguard (howa of course) action? is, to me, esp desireable for building a custom rifle as the action is so long it'll take the long magnums. thanks roger

while these are fine actions, they have metric threads and some smiths don't thread metrics..... I'm sure one could order a prethreaded and chambered barrel for it however..... This isn't a commonly used action for a custom as it's not CRF.. My advice is to put it on the classifieds with a $4OO price tag (and photos) and when a week has passed lower the price $50 and continue until some one buys it. My guess is that someone will bite at about $200...... /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." It wasn't long ago the new Vanguards were being sold at wal-marts in the area for $300 on close-outs. I wouldn't even buy them then but that's another story . I see used Vanguards in gun shops for pretty reasonable prices. I agree w/ Vapo, You are probably only going to get about 200 for it. Good Luck Reloader
