A good friend shared with me this pictures. The bullet is a 30.06 Core Lokt in 180gr factory load which was shot at this wild boar at 130-150yds. Hope you enjoy them! montero they shaved the hair to see the bullet with a better detail and here is the bullet

I take it that the core slipped out of it's jacket and went on ahead and penetrated enough to kill the hog, leaving the jacket stuck in the hide?

I suspect this is the exit wound. Bullet tumbled and came out backwards, mushroom of jacket holding on to hide.

I had a similar experience on a Brown bear, only the bullet was still under the hide. Mine had passed through the bears opposite shoulder and near as I could tell got turned around at that point. Still killed him quick.

I agree. Had the same thing happen with a .308 200gr Sierra Game King on an elk. Cheers, Canuck

The picture of the bullet after it was removed looks good. That's exactly the way I want them to look. All bullets are subject to flip in the animal when hard bone is hit. Reloader

....a 1/2 inch more and that is perfection...... It just did a few cart-wheels on the inside. Based on the expansion it surely wasn't cart-wheeling before it hit. Did your friend weight the bullet? JCM

The bullet tumbled and almost exited feet first getting traped by the mushroom. Never seen it before! Regards, montero

One can't fault the bullet here.....dead pig is dead pig!.....and the bullet actually looks like it should! To see that the 180 grain 30-06 did not exit a (roughly) 200 pound pig however is not to have been expected......One would have expected much better than this! It's good evidence for those that want to say that a 30-06 is "barely enough" for pigs but I think we all know better.....what a surprise! Thanks for the photos.....we learn every day I guess! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." I shot a zebra at point blank range with 400gr Hornady XTP factory loads, out of my 475 FA Linebaugh. Both bullets were just as in your photo, ie the base of the bullet sticking out of the hide, caught and held in place by the mushroom. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

I have the bullet at home and will weigh it tonight, but I would say in the 130-150 grain range. Montero
