I have three versions of takedown rifles. I have had zero issues with either.

I have two that made by HS Precision - excellent quality, accuracy, no tools needed to put together, holds zero. You can pay $5000 for a new one or look online and likely get one for $3500. If you buy used, get the SN before buying and call HS to see when it was made. They have altered them and made them better over the past 7 years. The older ones are fine but the newer ones are better.

The other is the Blaser R8. These are excellent quality, very accurate and easy to use. I like them a lot. You need a tool to secure the barrel to the stock. It works well. I have repeatedly taken them down and reassembled with no issues or change of POI. The switch barrel aspect is cheaper than any other if you like different calibers. I like them due to light weight and accuracy. Scope installation is very easy. Prices range from $3500 to $5800 depending on what you like in the way of a stock. Euro Optic sells these at very good prices. The Blaser folks in San Antonio are very helpful as well. I see no price drop in used Blasers to buying new.

The last is the Dakota Traveler. I like Dakota - accurate, dependable, model 70 type action. This requires a tool as well. I have taken them apart and reassembled with no issue on accuracy. Price is all over the place. New run $8000 +/-. Used run $5000 and up depending on wood.

I like them all and shoot them.

If you travel, the takedown case attracts very little attention and easier to handle.

If you have questions, PM me.

I am at the range. Shooting a blaser r8 6.5 creedmoor with federal 140 grain non typical ammo ($17 at academy).

I shot a 3 shot group with the blaser at 100 meters. I took the gun apart after each shot - complete disassembly down to the bolt head and removed the scope.

The gun shot .40 inches. Two shots touching. It is super windy too.

No change in point of impact.
