Go to the store and cycle the bolt on the Sako and then the Remington. Game OVER...the Sako is the smoothest, fastest and most precise bolt action ever made for under $2000.

We didn't lose the war in Vietnam the U.S won every battle there the politcians lost the war. The forward assist is for use when ammo is dirty and to help assist the bolt forward. I'm no big fan of the M-16A2 but I take it over an AK any day. No I'm not smoking dope either. If you look the marines sniper teams also have the one of the best battle rifles ever designed the M-14 I don't know if the Army sniper teams carry the M-14. Buy a Remington take the barrel off and Have either a Pac-Nor or a good Douglas or any barrel put on, in what ever caliber of your chose. You will have a damn good rifle and get one of the older 700, to do this you can usually get them at a decent price.
Too bad we did not have the Bushmaster M17S back then. I finally was able to get one of them after a long wait, and this 30 inch bull pup with 21.5 inch bbl is an engineering marvel. You can't get dirt into it if you TRY and the reciprocating mass is so far back and so low that there is NO muzzle rise. The bolt assembly is heavier than the M16 and works on dual rails with 2 springs. Balance is dead on the pistol grip, and you can do close work with it as a pistol.
