Hi I'm considering buying a new Remington ADL with the synthetic stock. Someday I'd like to be able to upgrade to a Bell and Carlson stock, but they only make stocks for the BDL models. I've seen some of the ADL to BDL conversion kits online for about $80. If I purchased one of those for the new ADL would I then be good-to-go for buying the Bell and Carlson BDL stock? Any info you have would be appreciated!

It should work. I got a good deal on an ADL with a cracked stock. My cousin gave me an extra BDL stock and bottom metal he had laying around. I also needed the magazine box and spring. This was all with walnut stocks. Tom Z NRA Life Member

The screws are different length for BDL and ADL. The magazine box is different as well. Then the obviously needed bottom metal and you should be good to go. Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.

A few years ago I had one of the long action M700 Mountain Rifles in .280 Remington calibre. This was an ADL Not being too keen on the tupperware stocks Remington put on these rifles, I purchased one of the M700 laminated mountain rifle stocks from Numerich Gun Parts. Because these are a BDL style and have the cutout for the floorplate, I also had to purchase a floor plate assembly from Numerich. To cut a long story short, I didnt need to order a new magazine box or screws - the stock worked absolutely fine with the original parts. She was only the Fish Mongers daughter. But she lay on the slab and said 'fillet'

Despite doing dozens of 700 ADL to 700 BDL conversions, I don't recall having a 700 ADL magazine box that would work with 700 BDL bottom metal, as the 700 ADL magazine boxes are deeper/taller. Heck, I have a shoe box full of 700 ADL magazine boxes and the small screws that attach them to the actions. Of course you can always grind down the 700 ADL magazine boxes to fit, but 700 BDL magazine boxes are cheap and easy to find, so I have never felt that modifying the 700 ADL magazine boxes was worth the effort. Back in 2007/2008, the local Wal-Marts were closing out their inventories of 700 ADL Youth models for $300 to $325, so I bought all that I could find to use as donor actions. Most of them have been used for that purpose and most have been converted to the hinged floor-plate 700 BDL bottom metal style. Only a few were used in the blind magazine 700 ADL style, four that used the 700 Ti stocks and 700 LSS-MR barrels to produce a light and handy hybrid.
