I have a new rifle with a semi-arc cut on the end of the bolt that appears to line up with the outside edge of the chamfer on the chamber. (I hope the description is clear enough). I contacted the manufacturer and they will send a new bolt to install. Is this OK; I thought the bolt was hand fitted on each rifle. Is this incorrect?

One should check the new bolt with head space gages. If it head spaces it is useable the way it is. Iam really surprise that now days some one would just send you a bolt. Most require the firearm be sent back to have it fitted.

agreed unless it's a Savage and the customer is known to have a barrel wrench and can and has adjusted headspace regularly. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
