I am looking options for a semi-auto hunting rifle in 243WIN with a regular type of clip. For now i am not interested in the BAR because of the hinged door for the clip or Remington products because of the bad taste left in my mouth from my 742 when it wore it self out and could not be repaired.I am not interested in military looking rifles either.Would it be possible to take something like a VEPR Super or Hunter and have it rebarreled to 243win.Does anybody have any other idea's?Thanks in advance.

The BAR is the only semiauto I'd consider.

My mistake this should be under small bore groups.

Benelli is making an auto rifle. I don't know if it is offered in .243. It's an ugly cuss in my opinion and I wouldn't be interested in owning, much less paying, for one of them. But then difference of opinion is what makes the world go around.

My only other suggestion would be to look for a used Winchester Model 100. I've owned and worked with several, and all have been surprisingly accurate. They're complicated and need to have had a factory-recall firing pin replacement, but I like their lines and performance.

By the way, I agree that the BAR is the best sporting centerfire auto available. What is it you intend to spray with more than five shots?
