308 for a rifle but a 22 might be necessary for survival. A drilling might just be the thing? I guess when we come from an angle of having owned different firearms over the years, it is hard to imagine one gun. An O/U 30-30 over 12 or 20 might just be brilliant in choice. Then you can use a chamber adapter for 22. Be Well. Packy

I would just have my 16 over 7x65r combination. With a good 156 or 173gn bullet will deal with most things and you can back it up with a 16bore slugs. For small game i would use a 100odd grain cast lead bullet with trailboss. And a 1oz load of no6 shot will deal with most flying bitrds.

Africa would be a 416 Rem or 404 either one would do...Id rather be armed a little heavier in Africa, Have no desire to shoot elephant or Hippo with a 30 caliber of any kind, and as much as I like the .375 the 416 is a better all round caliber than the 375..Check out the ballistics on the 416 Rem wit 300, 350 and 400 gr. bullets, its quite the long range caliber an wind proof Im told!! shocker

Absolutely. tu2

No flies on the 416 Ruger,
whether easy-carrying African wood, Alaskan laminate, or synthetic.

For me it would be the 338 WinMag. No question about it.
