Alright, after reading all the topics and posts on this cartridge and it's performance on the Dark Continent, you esteemed gentlemen have piqued my interest. Has anyone had any experience with this particular rifle and how hard is it to find one in the good ol' U.S. of A.? Am I better to buy a factory rifle and do some mods or just break down and have someone build me one? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I recently purchased a 9.3x62 CZ 550 Lux, and have started working up loads for it. The factory test target was 3/4", and handloads do even better. I am definitely pleased with it. I decided on the Lux over the American model because it had a slimmer fore end and open sights, plus slightly nicer wood.
My hunting buddy was so impressed with the way that my rifle shot that he also bought one.

I have a Lux and an FS. My buddy bought an Lux and bedded it. I left mine alone because I was short of time to do a good job. We both took them to Africa last fall. I prefer the Lux to TheAmerican because I think the stock is mor comfortable to shoot. The rifles are very accurate and reliable. It is a great cartridge and a great rifle. Nosler 286 gr Partition with 56gr IMR 4895 or 54.6gr Norma 201 are both good loads. 2350fps.

It depends what qualities you are looking for. I've owned about a dozen rifles in 9.3x62 (Sako, Zoli, Brno, CZ, Mannlicher-Schoenauer, and several custom jobs. Each had specific qualities to particular tastes.
I have ordered a lux 550 sought of but default I did want a cz battue or American but now I am pleased I am getting the lux for it has irons on it. I will mount a leupold 2-7 I have kicking around here on it.
I just can not wait to get mine.

I got the Lux in 9.3x62 a few years ago, (back when i was till in college). When it came, it was the last gun in stock with a box of Norma 232 grs. also, last in stock. It has been exceedingly accurate with handloads, and i would certainly recommend it. The only problem i've found with the stock, is, when benching it i need a very low chair to get the stock into my shoulder, and I'm only 5'7".
