The brass that came with gun is Remington 7mm STW. The regular STW is fired in the gun to make the improved brass. The brass comes out with a steeper shoulder. The dies are from RCBS and is labeled "7mm STW Improved 40 deg."

A while back I purchase a Rem 700 Sendero that was rechambered to a 7mm STW Improved. The rifle started out as a 7mm Rem Mag. The rifle came with dies and some fired brass. The fired brass looks intimidating. This should be one heck of a 7mm. Would anyone have any experience with this cartridge. I have not shot it yet, even though I can shoot the regular 7mm STW cartridges in it. Is there any hunting advantage to using a 7mm STW Improved vs. the original? Thanks for any advice on this.

I heard of a HV 7stw-heavy varmit- that drives a 180 at 3500fps out of a 36in barrel. Does not suprise me at all another new cal. Would like to know the difference in Vel.

Have to dig in to that one, keep us posted.

The ONLY WAY one could improve the 7mm STW would be to REDUCE its'case capacity!

Several people make 180gr VLD type bullets. Berger and JLK for an example. Carterussio (sp?) also makes a 176gr VLD type.

I am sure it was the Moly coated one-180gr HP VLD Berger bullet. I've tried the Barnes 195gr in my 7 mag and have shot it alot in my 7stw with Imr 7828-74grs.
