I have the opportunity to bid on a pre 64 Win Featherweight in 30-06 tonight. In looking at the gun I would say it is between 95-98%. The metal is excellent. It has the iron sights, none of the screws are buggered, I don't think they were ever removed. If the the gun was shot I would say less than a box. It has the plastic butt plate. The only flaw is some minor dings to the stock, probably from sitting in the gun cabinet. The serial number is 578591 and looks like it was made in 62. They have the owners manual, but not the box. What is it worth, or what would someone realistically pay for it.

A featherweight in the condition you describe will probably fetch around $1100. If it were in any other calibre it would be in the $1450+ neighborhood.

Gentlemen, I agree with you on the $900.00 figure, however, at auction I've never seen a clean featherweight fetch less than $1000.00, in fact, just this spring I watched two classic model 70s surpass that mark. In the FWIW department, I believe most of the suckers have cleared out of the used market, but the fact remains that many featherweights were altered, and a clean specimin on average, will fetch an additional $250.

I've been watching the on-line auctions once in a while for the pre-64's cause I have a pre-64 original condition 264 win mag I've been thinking about selling. Seems like the featherweights are around $1,000 or less while I have seen an original 26" barrel like mine sell for as much as $1,600.00. I was thinking about setting a reserve of $1,300.00 and seeing what happens. ____________________________________ There are those who would misteach us that to stick in a rut is consistency - and a virtue, and that to climb out of the rut is inconsistency - and a vice. - Mark Twain | Chinese Proverb: When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others. ___________________________________

Woods, Your 264 will probably fetch between $1250 and $1450, based on 92%, or better condition. I traded my reblued pre-64 264 for a pre-Garcia Sako AV in 338 Win before prices went thru the roof. I thought it a fair trade at the time as mine was a shooter and would never fetch the premiums a clean specimen would. As for my above mentioned remarks, they're based not only on Gun Broker/Auction Arms prices, but on auctions and estate sales I've attended.

This was a live auction. I was hoping to get the gun for a price that would make it worth my time to turn for a profit. The auction opened at $400 and ended at $875 in less that a min. Needless to say I didn't pick it up. FWIW, in looking over the gun I have to say I was not too impressed with the gun. The metal finnish ie tool marks ect.. were more visible than on my post 64 CRF stainless win. Thanks for the replies.
