Grancel Fitz hunted all over the world and shot everything with one 30-06 rifle.
The rifle was a G&H custom Remington 30-S.
Does anyone know what scope/bullets he used?
Anyone have pics of Grancel and his rifle ?

With modern powder and bullets the 30-06 is even better.

Anyone who claims the 30-06 is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own marksmanship

Was not Fitz’s rifle chambered on 30/06 Ackley Improved? Modern powders probably give the slight Ackley edge one would see with the Ackley with period powders.

I don't think I ever heard Fitz used an Ackley Improved. But some of what I heard I have forgotten!

Some things never change, and the legend of the 30-06 remains, and its as effective today as it was yesteryear..I will volunteer to shoot any dangerous game with it if you will pay for the hunt..A 200 gr. NOsler partition or Accubond, and a box of solids would work...
