I just picked one up and want to mount a leupold 2x7 ultralight. It has the butter knife bolt handle. Does anyone know what height rings I will need to clear the handle? I was looking at talley or Alaska arms Thanks.

Talleys only come in a single height for the Brno dovetails. I don't know about the clearance. You'd probably have to get all the pieces in hand and check the clearance.

Here is my BRNO 22f 6.5X57 with a Lyman All American 4X scope in Talley rings. The ocular measures 1.440" and the bolt had to be slightly modified to clear it.

Bill,

Are you sure those are TAlleys? They look more like Warne to me. But could be wrong.

Neat rifle.

Too bad that those rare artful Brno bolt handles get ground away for scope oculars. Mine have been.

The ocular is smaller in diameter on the Leupold Compact scopes.

Get the 'power' or optic that your eye likes instead of what someone else says.

When we go to the doctor they ask us what lens we like!

Do that with your optics.

Definitely Warnes.

Here is a ground bolt handle on my Brno 22F. The scope is a 2-7 Kahles. I got it that way when I bought the rifle used.

Oops, I just glanced at the photo and didn't check the rifle itself. Thanks for the correction. I have identical rings and scope on my 22h in 8X57S and no bolt alteration was required. My 21h 7X64 has claw mounts with a see through (ugh) and I have to use a lace on cheek piece to get a stock weld.

FYI-I tried the Alaska Arms rings in high, and they would not clear the unaltered bolt handle. Beautiful rings, I had really hoped to use them. I ended up with Leupold rings in high, .550, and they clear without much room to spare. Surprisingly comfortable to shoot even at that height. Rifle grouped well with factory ammo, now to try some handloads.
