I am heading to South Africa in a couple of months and have an A Bolt in 7mm Remington Mag. I plan on using 175gn. Barnes TSX. I have worked up a load that shoots an honest 3/4 inch group at 100. This load is above bullet with 37.8gn of RL25 loaded 0.017" off of the lands. The fired cases are not showing any signs of pressure and the primers are not flowing.
I know that the recommendation is 0.030 - 0.070" off freebore but is anyone out there having any problems with less?

Thanks

I can't really help with your inquiry but is 37.8 grains in error or a very light load? best-o-luck

Hello GiggaloJack,
As mentioned, you may have the powder charge numbers transposed?? However, the amount of "space" you are indicating, .030-.070 jump from the lands and grooves is quite a bit it seems to me. Would imagine such bullet seating would leave very little bullet in the case neck???? Not sure who suggests such seating for I have not shot the 7Rem. Mag much at all, but have been around various federal LE groups shooting the 7 Mag and never heard of their loads being loaded as you mentioned. Perhaps others here can enlighten all of us the suggested seating/load. Good Luck.

Sorry about the mistake. It is 67.8gn of RL25, not 37.8.

I dont have it in front of me, but I am pretty sure that the insert that was in the bullet box from Barnes read .030" - .070" from the lands. They suggested starting at .050". Of course I did not read this until I had loaded and shot some.
