Yes, the '05 Classic will be .308. No doubt it's a classic but who really cares? It's as common as pissed off liberals and is already available in nearly any rifle you could want. This one makes about as much sense to me as the .223 & .300 Win. did. The selling point of the Classic is usually to get a rifle in a relatively obscure cartridge that's not so easy to get. I guess there's some out there that will be happy to see the .308 in this particular format and that's ok I guess. Oh well, there's one less rifle I'll have to buy in '05.....

you guys suck. the .308 IS a true classic and probably one of the most versatile cartridges around for the hunter and/or shooter. it was good enough for the m14, the m40a1, my first deer, and my current best rifle, as well as many, many others. what's to bitch about? a classic is NOT alway some obscure cartridge that can only be handloaded because there is no ammunition available around the world. think out side the box and change your diaper.

Just like liberals some cannot accept the results!! even if the masses win... The .308 boring?, dull? mundane?, useless: wow! thats not much of a legacy for what is in reality one of the most useful rounds ever to come down the pike..Like the 30-06, 375 H&H, and 30-30, its probably as useless as tits on a boar hog, NOT! Get a life!!
