Does anyone know what barrel twist Remington is using for their new 30 AR ctg with the 125gr bullet?

30378,
Here is the webpage on Remington's website for downloads of catalogs. The Firearms Specifications download is not large and has the specs on all their guns.
http://www.remington.com/libra...wnloads/catalogs.asp

The answer to your question is: 1 in 10 twist for the Remington R15 in 30AR.

Hmmm..... looks like a 10 twist. Kinda strange for a 125 gr. bullet. Don't really need a 10 until you get to around 190 grains which seems way too heavy for the 30 Rem. in an AR platform.

10 is fine they did it cause they knoy guys are gonna reload them with 150's and need the faster twist at the slower vel they will get.
the win mdl 94 had a 12 twist for their 150 and 170 gr bullets and they done fine.

Shortened .284 Win about 44gr. case capacity.
7.63 X 39 power (almost equal in 16" barrels), --American design.

According to The shooting times article chrony results this cartridge has over 400fps over any 7.62x39 load I've tried through my 20" AR. This is a major step up in downrange performance and game killing power over 7.62x39mm.

The 30 AR comes pretty darn close to putting 300sav performance in the AR15 platform. Just from lookin at the pressure rating case capacity I'm gonna hazard a guess that 2500fps with 150grn bullets in a 20"bbl is gonna be very achievable

So, basically the 30 AR Remington, is a 30/30 Win, in an AR semi-auto format?

In a 223 sized AR.

OK, good, what is wrong with that???.

NO not quite

Irregardless of what the manufacturer says you show me a 30-30 load over a chrony that does 2800 fps from a 20"bbl with a 125grn bullet. As we all know on this forum published 30-30 velocity figures are a pie in the sky pipe dream when fired from a 20" barrel
http://www.realguns.com/archives/120.htm

30-30 is much much closer to 7.62x39 in terms of ballistic performance than the new 30AR

I was not trying to slight the 30 AR.

But looking at Remingtons own numbers, a 125 gr bullet does @ 2200fs.

Remington does, with their Low Recoil 30/30 load 2175fs.

Also the 30/30, according to Remington will do 2390 with 150gr bullets and 2200 with 170gr bullets.

The 30 AR is only avialable with 125gr bullets.

IMHO, that puts the 30/30 as a FAR superior hunting calibre on game bigger than 150lb deer.

This is baised on Remingtons numbers.

Also baised on Remingtons numbers the 7.62x39 with a 125gr bullet does 2365fps.

Which makes it more powerful than the 30 AR. Eeker

Again these are Remingtons own numbers.

PS, I have killed deer with the 30/30 and the 7.62x39.

Wait a second

You can't go by the info put up by the retards at Big green's webpage. It's completely and utterly wrong, according to my point blank software this is the the energy figure instead of FPS. Leave it to Remington to fuck up and shoot their own product in the foot with a retarded IT dpt.

Shooting Times just tested this cartridge over a chrony and got just a hair under 2800fps from a 22" bbl. All other publications back this up as well......except for remington who seems to be gunning for a fail with a simple typo

What's really fuckin stupid is the numbers at Remington's site have been wrong for a few weeks now. Which just reinforces my assertion that corporate America is run by folks who simply don't give a shit.

YOU are correct, I did a little looking at the 30 AR off of Remingtons site.

@2800fps is the correct muzzle velocity with 125gr bullets.

I have killed deer with the 7.62x39, and my nephew and I have killed a few deer and a few pigs with Remingtons Managed Recoil 125gr 308 load. They worked great. SO the 30 AR should work great also.

I wonder what velocity you could get with 150 or 170gr 30/30 bullets [or maybe even better 160gr Hornady Lever Evolution]???

A "trio" of AR's or maybe one lower and 3 uppers, one in 223, one in 30 AR and one in 450 Bushmaster would be a fun hunting combo for an AR lover.

Also let me add that I have shot a bunch of turkeys a couple of javillina and some prairie dogs with a 223 AR.

And deer and antelope with a H&K 91.

Para Military semiauto rifles make great hunting rifles.

They are accurate, rugged and reliable.

Well I've been able to get 2000fps from 170grn bullets in my x39 AR I would imagine the 30rar could better this by a couple three hundred FPS possibly more.
