Does anyone know if the Mark X was factory made in 35 Whelen caliber? Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.

I don't believe so. I don't think that the 35 Whelen was a factory round when Interarmco imported them. I had one rebarreled to 375 Whelen and throughly enjoy it. I have always like the Mark x rifles, but I have never seen a factory built 35 whelen. I am sure many have been built on 270 or 30/06 actions. I wouldn't mind having one myself.

I believe the first factory .35 Whelens were Rem 700 Classics. I agree with the others that Interarms didn't offer them.

As per older Gun Digests, etc from the 1970's era, the Mark X was not offered in .35 Whelen. I agree that the first factory offering in that great caliber was the Remington 700 Classic in 1988, followed by the regular 700 and the Remington pump and possibly their semi-auto rifles (not sure 100% on the semi-autos) shortly thereafter. According to the owner's manual, "Mark X sporting rifles are chambered for ten popular, carefully selected calibers to provide a full range of bullet weight, velocity and trajectory for all sporting needs..." The Mark X was available in: .22-250, .243, .25-06, .270, .308, .30-06 (5 round magazine capacity) and 7mm Rem Mag, 300 Win Mag, 375 H&H Mag, 458 Win Mag (3 round magazine capacity). I have a pair of Zastava barrelled action rifles.

There is one for sale in my area for what I thought was a high price ($500) since the front barrel band had been removed and the stock needed refinishing. It being advertised as a 35 Whelen was a red flag too since I did not know of the Interarms Mark X being offered in that caliber. I posted on here to take advantage of more knowledgeable people. I did email the seller for pictures and any other information he could give me about the rifle. No mention was made of it being rebarreled. I have lost interest in this rifle because of price and questions about what this mauser really is. Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. I have a custom 35 Whelen A.I. Mark X built by David Gentry in the early 90s. Very accurate and mild shooting, it routinely gives ½" to ¾" groups at 100 yds with bullets from 200 -275 grains. Never let someone tell you a Mauser will be inaccurate because of it's slow lock time!

Very nice looking rifle. What stock and barrel did you use in building it? I have one 35 Whelen and like the caliber a lot. Having a Mauser in that caliber was appealing which is why I initially responded to the online advertisement. There is a local gun store that has a Parker Hale 1200 Deluxe in 30-06 that I can buy for no more than $275. I am thinking about buying it and having it rebarreled. Hard times create strong men. Thanks, boliep, my memory is that the stock was McMillan and the barrel from Hart, but I'm far from sure. This was Gentry's Rough Rider model with a 14" twist.
