For shooting 110 to 125grn bullets between the two powders N-120 and AA1680 which do you prefer for 7.62x39mm and why? is one faster or does one edge out the other in accuracy or is it 6 one way half dozen the other ---------------------------------------- If you waste your time a talkin' to the people who don't listen To the things that you are sayin' who do you thinks gonna hear And if you should die explainin' how the thing they complain about Or the things they could be changing who do you thinks gonna care Waylon Jennings

I have reloaded many 7.62 x 39 rounds with bullets from 110 to 175 grains. Yes, .308 diameter bullets which have given me excellent accuarcy and velocities in two different rifles. The AA 1680 has over time proven to be the most consistant performer for me. I did briefly think and dwell on the idea of light bullets (110 V-Max) and the LiL Gun powder... a sort of big grown up Hornet... Don't go there! Pressures exceeded velocity returns. Now, as to your quandry, I would consider both V V 120 and AA 1680 fast but correct for the 7.62 x 39 case. For me with 150/155 grain bullets the V V 130 has been a very accurate performer as has 322, and if you have available the V V 120 and the 110 grain weights... I'd have to try that as well as the AA 1680 which I would start at about 25 grains, and work up .3 grains at a time as .5 grains is a bit much for case this size. This is an excellent cartridge and a lot of fun to play with. Enjoy Member NRA, SCI- Life #358 28+ years now! DRSS, double owner-shooter since 1983, O/U .30-06 Browning Continental set.
