Jim, what powder/primer are you using? I just chronographed a load, RL22 89 grs, Federal 215, accubond 225gr at 2950.

Im normaly an advocate of BT's on deer, but this sounds a lot like turning deer hunting into large scale varminting.



Have you seen the kind of mushrooms a BT will make? Theyre humongous even at standard velocities. With a weapon like that I would try the 200 gn Hornady for deer, their fluted tips would give a smaller tighter mushroom and much less meat damage. But with that said, I have no doubt that the 180 gn bt's would kill them stone dead very fast as long as the placement was good.
