Hi, I've developed a light 150 gr load for my 77RSI .308. Load gives 2300 fps MV from the 18.5" bbl. Its very accurate (1 MOA for 3 shots using Aimpoint 4 MOA dot) with 150 gr corelokts - and I have alot of these on hand. This is a fast, light rig I'd like to use on deer in Maine to 150 yds or so. I would figure impact velocity of 1900 to 2300 fps. Has anyone had experience with this bullet on deer sized game at similar impact velocities? I've used the 180 gr CL in .300s and '06 and know how it performs backwards and forwards. But I've never used the 150 gr version on live game. Thanks for any help, Sam.

If you shoot a deer or two and do not think you are not getting enough expansion try the 150gr bullets designed for the 30-30. I loaded up some of them for a buddy of mine a few years ago at @2300fps, for his Ruger 308 RSI. They killed deer like lightening. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

They do quite well in my 30-06 over a moderate charge of 4895.

I have used this bullet in a downloaded 30-06. It has worked very well on Northern Mn. deer. I use a light load of 3031 to get a mv of 2400 fps.

I honestly cannot say how it does on deer having never shot one with it. However, I do use the same bullet almost exclusively out of my Ruger Compact with a 16.5" tube on it. I shoot mostly factory Rem loads as they shoot so well I haven't bothered working anything up for it. The velocity however is only running about 2650fps from the shot barrel. I have taken the following mostly all with one shot at ranges from a few feet to out around 400yds. Roughly 70 yds One shot dropped in it's tracks at 283yds(lasered) - 400# 65 steps wicked cutters Good friend got this one at about 20' - 320# The big ones from 10' to 75 steps, got the little one with my 10mm. 420yds (lasered) I would have no issue taking a deer, I simply haven't had the right eon present it self to me. I hunt mostly on a friends place, and would rather shoot the hogs and let the deer grow. Mike / Tx

Thanks to everyone. You guys are great! Exactly the experience and wisdom I needed. Looks like I'm good to go. Will probably add another 100 fps, and if it still shoots well call it done. I plain forgot about the .300 Savage - Remington must be using that bullet in their 150 gr factory load. Duh!! Thanks again, Sam

I've put together similar load for a 308 I loaned to a younger cousin. I used the Remington 150 gr CoreLokt roundnose 30/30 bullet over 300 Savage or 307 Winchester data for a mild kicking deer capable load. He didn't connect his first couple seasons but the rifle was pleasant to shoot. The PSPCL ought to range a little better than roundnose and 2300 is well within its intended performance envelope. I'd say you're on the right track.

N E 450 No2, WE're not aweful picky and pretty much take what ever shows it's self. Most of those have been taken from the past few years. Some years we hit them hard, some we're too busy trying to fix up what they **ck up.
Hook, It isn't just us, heck most of the state has them. Those that don't probably just don't know they are there yet. Even right in big urban areas the have established very large populations, which come out at night and ravage high dollar landscaping in neighborhoods and business areas. They are a major problem and most folks shoot them on sight, where they are allowed. It is somewhat surreal to drive into a pasture one morning, that the day before was a pristine hay field or in row crops, only to find half or more of it now looks like they held artillery practice over night. We do what we can and stay on then when we see them. They will however move into and out of an area seemingly overnight. One week there is no sign the next there everywhere. Almost worse than fire ants. Mike / Tx

They have moved up into Oklahoma as well. We've killed over 180 on our place in the past 2 years.
