Local store has on consignment a new, never fired, with box (don't care about the box) Ruger M-77 in .358win. Ser # is 73-XXXXX (five digits after the dash).

They are asking $600 but think the owner will come down "a little".

I do want a 358 win but was planning on having one built on my MRC action.

What's it realy worth?

That seems like a pretty good price to me on a .358. Not many of those around anymore. I once had a .358 Ultra Light, but like an idiot, I sold it.

It's pretty obvious that you are teasing us. Might as well say you have a trophy elk in your sights and a tag and you wonder if it's too close to the truck to shoot it now!

It is a very reasonable price if it is a 77R. It is a steal if it is a 77RS.

No, it is a 77R. No sights.

Not teasing, just really didn't know the value. I had the rifle put on "hold" for me till I get a could get a few comments from more knowledgable folks like you.

I really didn't know what it was worth, to me it seemed kind of high when any old short action can get re-barreled to that cartridge and you will have about the same money in it.

Edited to add - They did come down on the price just a little.

Consider that new rifles chambered to the .358 winnie are rare. It will sell if a .358 fan hears of it.

There's a USED one on GunsAmerica for $1250. I'll pay the asking price of $600. for the new one. Even a blind hog can find an acorn now and then, but not too often.
