Saturday afternoon I sold my model 70 270win back to the dealer, it would shoot some of the pretties 5" 3 shot groups at 100 yards you've ever seen thumbdown and bought a new Remington BDL stainless in 270win. I took it to the range this morning and looks like we have a winner I tried 2 bullets and 4 loads before finding the one I plan to hunt with, btw none of them shot over 2" with most being an inch or so. But the one my rifle likes is a 140gr Accubond over 59.5gr of Reloader 22, Win brass and Win WLR primer. I shot 3, 3 shot groups at 100 yards with with the best group being one ragged hole and the worst being 0.6 inches with a velocity average of 2990fps. Big Grin Big Grin thumb I may have bought my last Winchester.

Your original problem was buying a rifle in .270 roflmao! Just kidding, glad to here you have one that works. Nothing wrong w/ a 6.5x55 for lopes, probably just about perfect. thumb

It's good to read you now have an accurate rifle.
Despite what others have written about what poor rifles Remington are, my Remingtons have been accurate too.
Some of the engineering may not be as good as in other rifles, but hell, they work, shoot straight and bring animals to grass.

That is extremely close to my favourite load for my Blaser R93 .270 Win barrel. Very accurate those Accubonds.

That 140 grain load is bound to be just outstanding! I say this based on years of using the old Nosler 150-grain Partition with 53.5 grains of IMR 4350. Your load is bound to be faster than mine was, plus being more accurate, too.... thumb

I have shot more antelope with the 270 than anything. I think the 270 is about the best all around "Praire Goat" rifle made, however I could live with Fred's choice also. Wink

Most shot with the 270 used a 130 grain Nosler Solid Base ahead of 60 grains of RL-22 powder and a CCI Large Rifle primer which is very close to Mark's load. I never used the 140 grainer in a 270 because it seems to me too much like trying to make it into a 280. Big Grin

The 280 with 140 grain Nosler Solid bases and the same load as my 270 was a decent antelope load for me also. Smiler

Hey Mark,

Congrats on the new stick! I will look forward to the photos of it laying on top of a nice pronghorn.

Good Hunting,
