I picked up a Browning 300WSM ShortTrac this past winter that has been giving me fits. I couldn't get this thing to shoot better that 4inches @100 consistantly,no how,no way. Most were well over 6 inches. I was starting to believe some of the horror stories about these rifles not being able to shoot better than 2-3 inches @100. I replaced the scope, scope mounts, ran some JB bore paste down the bore and started from scratch with load develpment. This is a set of tagets from my first range session after the new scope & mounts. I know it's nothing to brag about, but it's a hell of a lot better than I was getting. I think with a little fine tuning I can get this thing shootin pretty good.

I have over 300 reloaded rounds through it and I have had zero problems with feeding and jambing.

Hang in there steve. I gave up on a Kimber 84m too early and sold it. I sure regret it now. It was the worst shooting gun I had ever owned and the most expensive! But I believe now it could have been made to shoot better. It looks like your doing good with yours. Have you tried different powders? I assume you have. Magpro lined out my 270 winchester, Reloader powders do well too. Anyway there are a bunch to try. Good luck and hang tight you'll get it. Straight shootin to ya

I neck size with a Lee Collet Die and then FL size bumping the shoulder back using a Redding Type S bushing die with the expander removed. This is the same set-up I use for my son's Safari II 300WSM and my Safari 30-06. Seems to work fine in all three of these Brownings. Raybass, Hunter is the first powder I have tried since I installed new mounts/scope. I have IMR 4350, MagPro, N-560, DP 86, DP 85, R-19 and R-22 loaded up and ready to test. Thanks

There are lots of variables in the accuracy equation. Free floating the barrel, glass bedding the stock, getting the barrel bore smooth, a good trigger, a good load, bullets seated at the optimum distance from the lands, good optics and mounts, and good shooting technique. Don
