I never cut one apart, but i knew an engineer who retired from Remington. He told me that Remington quit making the Remington Corlockt and was using the interlock from Hornady in the line. I believe this for three reasons: 1) This guy had every reason to be right, 2) When Remington reintroduced the Remington HD waterfowl line they did not reintroduce it with the old Wingmaster shot of 2011. The used Hevi Shot XII pellets. I saw that w my own eyes. 3) I can shoot through a bucks neck at close range w Winchester ballistic tips and exit. The last time I tried it w a corelockt no exit. The old corelockts exited deer. More than a coupe of us on here used him for gunsmithing. He was a member on here. Long gone with a couple of others. He went by Rusty here on AR. If my memory is correct. Anyway, my vote if more than 180 grains is needed or wanted, I need more caliber, and probably more cartridge.

I can only tell you what I see 15 yards and in and unglued, but smack dead, but anything would. When I was younger in the 2000s corelockts exited. Like I said, I have not cut any apart, but I believe the gentleman for the reasons given. Accubonds (regular) have never been recovered except from one elk that made it to the off side hide. One a small buck I shoulder head on just inside the shoulder and exited the off side groin that was at 245 yards. Another, Medium sized buck I shot right above the humerus. It exited. The buck started running in his back legs head on the ground. Shot him in the neck and exited (maybe 10 yards). Three boar two through the shoulderblades exit. One shot in the hip ball socket and exited the throat. Two 200 pound fallow deer with one through the lungs at 80ish yards exit. The other was through the shoulderblades exit. 3 more whitetail exit one was 250 yards. One red stag that field dressed 440 pounds shot right over the humerus exit. A backup into the hip ball socket did not exit. Massive exit wounds, lots of blood and trauma with quick kills. A plains game safari or a month in Texas will swamp my bag, but I can only tell what I have seen. Blue box federal were interlocks too. Now, I did run the ballistic tips a good deal slower than those 30/06 corelockts. However, the Accubonds have been full velo 7mm STWs, 35 Whelen, 300 WM, 270 Win. Love the real Accubonds. I do not shoot at 600 yards. So, I do not have any need for the thin jacketed, long, Long Range Accubonds. For me, my money, my time, and my hunt if I need more than 180 grains, I need a bigger caliber or cartridge than the 30/06. However, I also believe in momentum and history. The 220 30/06 load has a lot of history. Thst alone makes it interesting to me.

I prefer the 180-200 gr Swift A-Frames or the Nosler Partition bullets. Work just fine on moose and bear. For African use, the Swift 200s or the Noslers again, either AB or partitions. Depending on PG or DGame. Barnes TTX or TX protrude a bit too much into the powder space. Bigger 300s can handle Barnes. A 338-06 or 35 Whelen for really ornery grizzlies. But, whatever you are carrying becomes your "bear rifle" at the time. Avatar

Accurate Reloading is slipping, Page 2 and nobody has suggested he rebarrel to 9.3x62mm!

There is nothing to reloads. Follow very simple rules and you have the best ammo there is. Beats any factory ammo. Over 4K years ago on my first African safari I used factory ammo. Since then every single round fired on safari I have loaded myself.

Not to correct you, but Groucho Marx would disagree. He said, "You're only as old as the woman you feel." ![]() To the subject at hand, on my one and only Kodiak bear I used 220 NPs at about 2450fps. He was laying down and as I had a 4+1 rifle I put all 5 behind/into the shoulder (no guide for backup, just me)then watched as I reloaded. He never got up, and 3 passed through, so good enough for me! Bob DRSS "If we're not supposed to eat animals, why are they made out of meat?" "PS. To add a bit of Pappasonian philosophy: this single barrel stuff is just a passing fad. Bolt actions and single shots will fade away as did disco, the hula hoop, and bell-bottomed pants. Doubles will rule the world!"

I have found that if it is worth shooting once it is worth shooting more then once.

I liked the 180 gr Nosler for years but when I found out I could drive the 200 gr. Nosler partition or the Nosler Accubond to the same velocity as the 180 and with same bullet construction it was a no beaner to switch over, I never had to look back, it improved the best bullet I used for years.. You left out my smiley face, but I was only half kidding. Mr. Nevins used two .30 caliber 220 gr. Hornady FMJs to kill two Cape buffalo, or so he said in the 1960 Hornady ad. That is economy! His rifle looks to me like a Weatherby and would therefore have been chambered in .300 Weatherby Mag. Nice shooting in my book. I do believe in insurance. And I will grudgingly pay the premiums. But only if and when due. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

from the past again but i witnessed and shot as well in a 30-06 220 gr fmj from hornady but not on cape buffalo just the little forest ones and the central african savannah ones for meat. but i did enjoy having a 460 wea mag just in case. still have somewhere a box of bullets ready to reload if needed.

Hornaday Interlocks are good bullets but IMO don t compare to Nosler Partitions or Accubonds..Thats just an add and adds are a dime a dozen, coreloks are a decent bullet and been working for ions..
