Mauser 77 cal 30-06?

Is there anyone who knows anything about this rifle? good or bad?

Sounds like a misnomer to me. It should be a Ruger Model 77, 30-06. There is no Mauser that I know of with a model number of 77.

The Mauser 77 never really caught the market's fancy (neither did its sportive offspring, the 83 and 86). IMHO, it looks a bit too beefy to be elegant.

If you can acquire one cheaply, you get a decent and reliable hunting rifle, though nothing glamourous.

An extensive report and review on the rifle (several detailed pages, rather technical) was published in the DWJ in 1981, written by Gï¿½nter Frï¿½res. If you can read German, I would be glad to fax it to you.
