I would give the rem core-loc 140 gr a try. When the rem 260 first came out I got one in the mtn rifle and tried the 100,125 and 140's and the 140 core-loc was just as accurate as the lighter bullets.I got these to get the brass to reload but all three weights took deer fine. The last deer I took useing my reload 120 gr bullets was 450 yds out of a rem BDL in 260.

I use 140 Rem core lokt also. They'll do a number on a deer. And, I would imagine, on other stuff too.

I use the Northfork 120 HP in all my 6.5s......and like the flat shooting and terminal performance. I'm replacing the 257s in my rack with 6.5s but have the 30-06 etc if I choose to hunt bigger than deer size animals. T The 140s in the 6.5 are fine but I'm still looking to a bit flatter tradjectory! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." I tried factory Remington 140gr CoreLokts without success in my Kimber 84. I worked up a handload using Hornady 129gr SPs that is very accurate in that particular rifle and drops deer DRT. I do use 140gr Hornady SPs in my CZ550 FS in 6.5x55. That rifle thrives on that bullet (deer don't! ). The CZ has a slightly faster twist rate also. If your rifle will shoot 140s, they do penetrate like no tommorow. If, not, find a cartridge that is loaded with a high quality bullet that is somewhat lighter that shoots good and stock up. Better yet, start handloading BH1 There are no flies on 6.5s!

If you are shooting those hill country deer, the 120 should be all you will ever neeed. If you are going out of state, or for some reason the 120's don't group well, you might give the 140's a try.

I agree with joe25/06. 120gr bullets are all you need to hunt in Texas Free men should not be subjected to permits, paperwork and taxation in order to carry any firearm. NRA Benefactor

I have had really good luck on deer and antelop using 120 NBTs and RL 19. If I find some 130 Accubonds, I may give them a shot - pun intended. Lou **************** NRA Life Benefactor Member
