I am having a devil of a time trying to work up a load with the new NAB's in 338 250 gr in my 338-06. I am shooting a 22 inch douglas barrel on a weatherby/howa action.

I can not get any load to group at all. I have tried all my usual favorites for the 338-06 in 250.... 4350, RL 15, Varget, 4064.

The bullet is really long, over 1.5 inches...wonder if my twist just will not stabilze this bullet.

Am having no trouble with 250 gr Sierra GK's or Speer GS.

Anybody else try them yet?

Yes..I checked scope, mount, action screws etc..all seem normal.

Just about ready to hang this bullet up. This is the first NAB I have tried that will not shoot very well. I use them in 270, 7mm, 308, the 225 in 338 works great and the 260 in 375.

Thanks

kreyten

They may be too long. My 338-06 doesn't care for the 225grNAB but likes the 200gr. It shoots tiny gropus w/ other 250gr, Hornady, NP, Gs, but hates any 225gr, go figure. You could give RL19 or H4350 a try, but I'm betting you just aren't getting enough vel. to stabilize them.
I would like to run some of those 250grNABs thru my 338x74K. It has a longish throat & sounds like a good fit @ 2700fps.

My 338-06 does very well with the 185 and 210 gr TSX and the 210 and 225 gr Partition. That said, I have only hunted with the 185 gr TSX and 210 gr Partition, both only on bull elk, and they performed perfectly.

I've taken quite a few animals w/ my 338-06 & the 210grNP @ 2750fps. It kills very well from smaller antelope to elk & zebra. It's almost like that bullet was made for the 338-06.Big Grin
