Hi does anyone have experience with these scopes ? I am looking at putting one on my 9.3x62 and have discovered that I can get one from the State's for $100 plus shipping these scopes sre selling for $400 (US dollars) in my local gunshop (Australia) so will my 9.3 kill one?

I have a couple and I would say they would hold up. I have a 1.5 x 6 that is pretty rugged and also a straight 4 x, ( that they quite making so I bought about 4 of them for $49.00 each)

Don't think they are that impractical in Australia to put a 4 x 12 or bigger on a 9.3 x 62.

Cheers and Good shooting

Like Seafire, I have two of the 1.5x6X Whitetail Expeditions scopes. I found them easy to sight in with the adjustments being right on.They're bright and the scopes present a clear picture. They've been mounted on two Ruger 77 Internationals, one being mine the other my wifes rifle, both in .308 Win.
Let's put it this way, I paid big bucks (for me anyway) for a Burris 1.5 x 5X (or 6X, I can'r remember which) that now sits in a drawer out in my shed. The Simmons outclassed it big time, not only in brightness, but in clarity. For what I paid for that Burris, I could have bought two more of the Simmons. Nuff said?

I have never owned an expensive scope and have got along well with Tasco, Bushnels and an old Weaver K4 etc. The one Simmons I have is a 3-9 Model 21029 made in China. I have thought of replacing it with a newer Bushnel like the 4-12X40 I have on a 22-250 but have decided to stay withthe Simmons until I detect a problem. This past fall I took Mulies and whitetails at ranges between 300 and 440 yds with 1 shot kills. The scope is mounted on a 30-06 and has given good service for at least 6 yrs. I'll spend the money on ammo for practice and enjoyment rather than status.
Out of approx. 8 scopes I have had in the last 35 years I only had one problem with an old Bushnel Banner back when they were the bottom of the line Bushnel.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having quality optics. If I could afford it, I would have top notch scopes on my rifles. The truth is that between a $175 Leupold VX1 or a Bushnell Elite 3200, a Whitetail Expedition and the higher priced scopes is a thin line. They do have better optics. Are they worth the difference? You have to be the judge, along with your wallet. One step further would be Zeiss and the like. Are they worth the price? Again, you pay a lot more for a degree of better optics. Most of us wouldn't notice a whole lot of difference. I've taken deer with Simmons, Tasco, Leupold and Burris. I can't really say that a Zeiss or Nightforce would have done a whole lot better. I'm really not interested in spending $1000+ for a scope. I have a number of deer and varmint rifles, I simply cannot afford to sink $10-12000 in scopes.
I'm never ashamed of being unable to afford such niceties. I'd rather have more guns and decent scopes on them. That's my choice, and everyone has to make their own decision. Many, many head of game are harvested with cheap, or at least decent quality scopes, so we are the majority. I'd venture to guess that far more game is killed with Tasco and Simmons than Zeiss, Nightforce and Kahles put together. I know a lot of hunters and don't know a single soul that owns a Zeiss, Nightforce, Kahles or Swarovski. I know literally dozens and dozens who own Leupold, Burris, Simmons and Bushnell. They can't all be wrong.

The whitetail Expeditions are great. You cant beat them for the price. I have the Aetecs and 44 mags and they have never lost zero and they are on some pretty recoil strong rifles.

I cant say that for some of the other more expensive scopes I have (Like Leupold )

You should have great luck w/ an expedition. They are pretty nice looking scopes also.

Good Luck!

As bizarre as it may sound, I have gotten some of my best scope bargains here recentyl by buying them from auctions on Ebay or one of the gun auction sites. I am referring to something like older Leupolds, Lyman All Americans, Alaskans, Challengers, and some of the steel-tube Weavers. Many of these are better today than some of the new imported ones! For example, I have owned six 4X Lymnan All-American perma-center scopes, and have never had one fail mechanically. Agreed, most of the low-priced scopes at auction are not variables, but I find that feature over-rated! A good 6X that you practice and become proficient with will cover 99.99% of all big-game hunting needs! I shot my elk last October with a Kahles Helia 6X, at about 35 yards, and never felt I had too much magnification. I have never had a shot at game where I had the time, or even the predeliction, to twist a power ring!!
