Hi ALl..Finally located some Nosler 308W Brass....Nosler says their brass is heavier than other brass and to start low...their website says Varget at 44.5gr is the starting load with 150gr partition....THAT load filled the case to the bottom of the neck..!!! Their max load is 48.5gr....I don't see how you can cram that much without compressing the load.....anyone else run into this....???
I was reluctant to go past 45gr. as I am already at the base of the neck on this Nosler brass..
Thanks...
Pete

A grain of powder is not much. It will surely be a compressed load. Tap on the case a bit and watch the powder settle.I would work up to it carefully if I were you. All guns are different, thats why they have min and max loads.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with compressing powder. Get used to it as many of the best loads you'll reload are compressed loads.

No where near an expert, but in my rifle 150gr Game kings over 46.5 gr Varget in Nosler cases is working well with no pressure signs. I really like the Nosler brass and bought a buch of it when they had it for $19 per 50 pieces

You will find that the Nosler brass is in many cases rather soft, and it is rather easy to expand primer pockets with loads that wouldn't be considered hot with other brass. That by itself is a good reason to start low.Reminds me of Federal brass in that way.

OH JEEZ...Nosler Brass rather soft..???? WHAT brass is NOT soft...??? I tried Federal Brass...even their MATCH Brass...and the bullet run-out was excessive..!!! Not so with the Nosler Brass...run-out was .002" MAX on the forty I loaded yesterday... and THAT was only with ONE round...most were .001" MAX...Is the Lapua Brass any good..??? Harder than the rest...???
Thanks...Pete
