7x64 is very popular in Europe and now some US company load the 7x64 as Remington or Winchester ( for Europe only ? )

in Europe Norma , RWS , Lapua make case

7x64 is very close to the 280 REM

dies are available from RCBS or Hornady or REDDING

in USA 280 REM will probly a better choice

good shooting

Here's a little cartridge history and information:

And an article you may enjoy reading:

"Guns of the Kenya Settlers" by Finn Aagaard

The 7 mm Mauser was always a well-liked and effective cartridge, and the 7x64 mm Brenneke, whose performance is identical to that of the .280 Rem., became quite popular in later years.

Excellent cartridge. It has been around since WWI, and was the original improvement to the 7x57. Remington even came close to copying it with their .280.

Most major ammo companies load for it, and every shop I know of stocks it. I use IMR 4350 and 175 gr. bullets.

Remington used to offer brass for the 7x64, but I think they have discontinued that caliber. Remington still offers factory loaded ammo for the 7x64 - at least they do in Europe where the 7x64 ranks right up there with the 30-06 for popularity. Given that, if you handload, and thus can overcome the lower pressure of the factory .280 loads, the .280 Rem is probably the better bet in the US.

If you like the idea of the classic 7x64, you can either get (pricey) RWS brass, or go with some of the cheaper brass from Eastern European manufacturers. Not sure if Norma offers 7x64 cases, they obviously make 7x64 ammo, as does RWS and a number of other European manufacturers.

Remington still makes brass for the 7x64, and any 284 bullet works, you can even use .280 loading data, so its as easy to use as a 280 or 30-06....I think I have 100 new brass somewhere out there in the shop, if you can't find any I'll sell or trade them for ? but won't ship over seas.

You can get brass for 7X64 made by RWS, Norma, Sako or Hirtemberger. Lapua made brass for it a few years ago, I hope they soon will do it again. I have found brass in 7X64 in Europe and USA. I guess it was Norma or RWS. PMP also loads the round, which is nt soo easy to find here [Roll Eyes]

Gentlemen
280 rem is almost identical to 7X64. The 7X64 has been around for much longer than a the 280 re or did they call it 7mm express or 7-06 [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Eek!] [Eek!]

My hands down choice is 7X64 Brenneke [Smile]
