I am in the market for a new stock for my .338-06 with vanguard action and a douglas heavy #4 sporter contour barrel. I would like to replace the older Butler creek stock with something a bit more stout.

I noticed the Accurate Innovations in the Midway catalog and browsed their homepage..

Anybody have any experience, good or bad with these stocks...was thinking about the laminate version.

Other suggestions welcomed..would like to keep price below 400$ if possible.

Thanks!

I now quite a lot about AI. I was looking at purchasing the company about two years back, so did a pretty complete examination of the product. It is top notch- you will be very pleased. I have two of their stocks, the only problem with them back then was, like all good products, you have to wait a bit for your order.

I have not been in touch with them for a year or so, and I think it may have sold to new investors, but Ben is still running the place, I think-

Kreyten, my friend just put together a barreled action in .375 H&H from Montana Rifle Company for his wife and they used an Accurate Inovations laminated stock. It is a really nice outfit. I will be putting together a rifle in the near future and I am going to have them stock it for me.

I've got 2, both english walnut and ebony tip. One Ruger, and one CZ. Excellent! Should read one Ruger and one Montana Rifeman.

Dan, I wasn't aware that Accurate Innovations makes a stock for a CZ. Which model CZ did they restock for you. I have a 9.3X62 that I would love to restock with a nice piece of walnut.

I tried 3 times to get a quote from them and have pretty much given up. Their web site shows this stock made from Myrtle wood and I love the look so I called them and was told on 3 different occasions that they would get back to me "tomorrow" with a price. The last call was a month ago....

I'm shooting one of Mike Cyrus' 500 Cyrus with a Montana short action in an AI stock. Total weight about 8.4 lb with a caliber that pushes 500 grain bullets at 2,300 fps. The stock, solid wood, is very well made and has held up perfectly.

I have one from about 2yrs back. They still owe me the stock I ordered rather than the stock they provided. I've been promised and promised and finally just gave up. Worksmanship was poor, fit was poor, specs were wrong as mentioned.

To boot the frigin' thing weighs a long ton, a good 1 1/2lbs more than the factory stock it was supposed to replace.

I wouldn't buy another with a gun to my head.

Edit: Oh, by the way the checkering must've been done by a four year old.

OK...thanks to all for the input...an interesting mix of responses.

I e-mailed AI and received very quick response. I was hoping for a true drop in, bolt up stock...but this is not the case. AI wants my action for fitting etc. Looking at well over
600$ with shipping, ffl fees etc etc..more than I care to spend right now.

Will search for other stocks.

For the Slug...congrats on seeling your 7x57 RSI...if I could have talked my wife into it.. I would have bought it!

Cheers and thanks to all again.
