Mr. Gonzo, Zastava is Yugoslavian, not Czech. Its quite hard to get any info from them but you could always make a trip to Kragujevac, Serbia and take a look.
The "Czech Bastards" are CZ. He's looking for Zastava as an alternative.

| GFP,
The Zastava Mausers will differ somewhat from the CZ in that the finish is expected to be 'better', and the magazine capacity won't be as high as with the CZ (which usually holds one more round than other bolt-actions).
Still, a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. A left-hand CRF is always welcome!

| Gonzo: Read the last entry in CZ to make a leftie post. The stuff about the lefties came from the CZ forum and one of the administrators there. He found the info on the euro CZ website NOT from CZ-USA. I have found that when a rifle company says it will come out with a certain product soon, expect at least a year's wait. Tom |

| Zastava's civilian rifles are el-cheapo products. A bit better than many current US guns, but that's it.
By European quality expectations, and compared to other European makers, they are the bottom of the barrel (maybe together with older Santa Barbara). They are still worth their money, but finish and worksmanship are inferior to most, and the metal quality in the past often has left to be desired.
On the other hand, Serbian Prvi Partizan ammunition is excellent.
